Nkuringo Gorilla Campsite & Hammerkop Bunkhouse

‘Nkuringo' (‘round stone') is a reference to a knoll-like forested hill beside the Kashasha River Valley. The Nkuringo Gorilla Camp enjoys stunning panoramic views from an altitude of 2,161 metres, stretching towards the Virunga Volcanic chain in Rwanda to the DRC Rift Valley floor.

This is Uganda's newest gorilla tracking location and the Nkuringo Gorilla Camp is strategically situated close to the starting point of the trek. The gorilla group has undergone an extremely delicate process which has gradually brought them to tolerate the presence of humans for a brief period every day. Your trek will be an exhilarating journey through forested slopes, entwined vines, bushes and bamboos before you eventually reach the gorillas' habitat. Once you do, you will be able to spend one hour with a family group and enjoy a truly majestic experience.

As an alternative to gorilla tracking, Bwindi Impenetrable Forest offers a wide range of other activities, including guided walks through the forest and its waterfalls - also home to a variety of monkeys, mammals, birds and butterflies, as well as an impressive display of flora and fauna. You will also have an opportunity to visit the local community and experience the true flavour of local life, or you can opt to take part in the Nkuringo Walking Safari, which is organized by the camp.

The camp itself provides accommodation to suit all budgets and strives to adopt an eco-friendly approach. The staffs are exceptionally hospitable and you can be sure your stay will be a memorable one.

Policy on children staying with parents:

• Children are welcome!
• Children below 5 years are accommodated free of charge.
• Children between the age of 5-12 years pay half price when sharing with an adult.
• Children above the age of 12 are considered adults and pay full rates.

Cancellation Policy:

Reservations that are cancelled, reduced in length of stay or reduced in numbers are subject to cancellation and 'no show' fees payable at the discretion of Nkuringo Gorilla Camp under the following terms.

• 90 - 30 prior to client arrival date - 10% cancellation fee will be charged
• 30 - 15 prior to client arrival date -25% cancellation fee will be charged
• 3 -14 prior to client arrival date - 35% cancellation fee will be charged

Less than 3 days prior to client arrival date - 100% cancellation fee will be charged.

All cancellations or amendments are only accepted when received in writing by Nkuringo Gorilla Camp.

Failure to comply with the terms of payment will result in all bookings being automatically cancelled.
