The nearby Kibale Forest is a 766km² tropical rainforest, made up of a network of shady trails. It is the natural habitat for 12 primate species, and contains the highest primate density of any area on Earth. It's also a haven for botanists, bird and butterfly lovers. The delightful and playful chimps are the prime attraction, whilst the elusive forest elephant can occasionally be seen meandering through the trees. Some of the trees are 50 to 60 metres in height, providing a majestic canopy for the profusion of life just waiting to be discovered. A field of beautiful crater lakes lies between the forest, Ndali Lodge itself and the nearest town, Fort Portal.
Ndali Lodge is situated in the heart of western Uganda's crater lake region, and on the edge of the beautiful Rwenzoris range or 'Mountains of the Moon'. It is also an ideal stop-over for travellers visiting Queen Elizabeth National Park or Murchison Falls.
The lodge is also on the doorstep of Kibale Forest National park, famous home of the largest concentration of chimpanzees in Africa, as well as an array of other primates, birds and butterflies.
Ndali provides local guides for walks around the 1,000 acre farm, to the Mahoma Water fall, and a boat for relaxing contemplation of a large variety of birds, butterflies and primates. Walks will take you around crater rims, past alcohol brewing in oil drums, through banana plantations, vanilla plantations, coffee terraces, plots of cassava, groundnuts, sorghum and millet.
And of course, for those seeking a relaxing weekend retreat, the lodge offers peace, tranquility and seclusion. Take a dip in the pool or swim in the lake or simply soak up the sun.
