Katara Lodge

Katara Lodge is situated 20 minutes away from Queen Elizabeth National Park, which boasts open savannahs, papyrus swamps, crater lakes, gorges and of course, a prolific variety of game. You can expect to see hippos, elephants, buffaloes, hyenas, lions, leopards and waterbucks, to mention just a few. The lodge is located on the Kichwamba escarpment, and nestles into one of the hills overlooking the plains and on a clear day so that you can see the beautiful Rwenzori Mountains in the distance. Each cottage was built using locally available materials by members of the nearby Katara village community. If you're lucky, you might be woken by the trumpeting of elephants in the morning.

Staffs at Katara Lodge are happy to arrange the following for guests: Game drives, Launch cruises on the Kazinga channel, Chimp tracking, Forest walks, Community visits.

For game drives and village walks, the lodge is working with the Albertine Rift Tourism for Conservation, a local organization which seeks to marry eco-tourism with the culture of the local people, by providing tour guiding services.

Flexible depending on demand.

Policy on children staying with parents:

• Children are welcome!
  
• Children under the age of 2 are free.
  
• Children between the ages of 2 and 12 years are charged $20.

Cancellation Policy:

• 100% payment up front in order to secure your booking
• Any cancellations made more than 30 days before the date of arrival incur a fee of 50% of your payment
• 8-30 days - a cancellation fee of 50%
• 0-7 days - a cancellation fee of 100%

Other disclosures:

• Rates include government taxes, but exclude park entry fees.
• For 25th and 31st December, a $30-per-person surcharge applies.
