Engagi Lodge

‘Engagi' means ‘Gorilla' in Rukiga, the language spoken in and around Bwindi Impenetrable Forest, which is particularly fitting for this little part of Uganda! The main lodge consists of a ‘rock' bar, restaurant and large wooden deck, and is nestled amongst Eucalyptus trees. Each cabin has either a double or twin beds, flushing toilets, hot and cold water and a private verandah.

Bwindi Impenetrable Forest is home to approximately 330 Mountain Gorillas (almost half of the world's total population), and is the only forest in Africa which has Chimpanzees and Mountain Gorillas co-existing. As well as hosting five other species of primate, the forest contains 113 species of mammal, over 200 species of butterfly, 360 bird species, 324 tree species and even a herd of forest elephant.

As well as Gorilla tracking, guests can enjoy a number of private walking trails around the lodge, through the forest and down to the river, as well as a visit to a number of local tea plantations which are maintained by members of the community.

Policy on children staying with parents:

- Children are welcome!

- Children from 0-3 years of age are free.

- Children between the ages of 4-12 are charged $60.

- Children over 12 years of age are charged at the full adult rate.

Cancellation Policy:

• 100% payment up front in order to secure your booking
• Any cancellations made more than 30 days before the date of arrival incur a fee of 50% of your payment
• 8-30 days - a cancellation fee of 50%
• 0-7 days - a cancellation fee of 100%
