Kidepo Valley National Park, in north-west of Uganda, is one of the most spectacular parks in Africa. Enclosing two river valleys, it is an oasis in the middle of a vast area of inhospitable territory, though the game is plentiful. The 1,440km park offers vistas of rocky outcrops and huge, sweeping horizons. As you fly over the mountains hemming the park, harsh semi-desert scrub suddenly gives way to improbable lush river valleys, crossed by small streams and wetlands. There are two distinct eco-systems, broadly centered on the Narus and Kidepo Rivers.

Apoka Lodge overlooks the savannah of the Narus Valley towards the Napore-Nyungea Mountains. The 10 exclusive rooms bring safari chic to the wilderness, though with soft duvets, plush towels, and oversized dressing gowns, you won't feel far from home until you step outside. The area attracts game throughout the year and much of it can be seen from the privacy of your veranda. Elephants, Buffalo, Zebra, Bushbuck, Ugandan Kob, Rothchild's Giraffe, Lions, Leopard and Cheetah are frequently seen in the park and the birding is excellent (over 475 species). The feeling that you get when you visit this park is surreal... almost as if it were the Land that Time Forgot.

• 30% deposit in order to secure your booking
• Balance to be paid 30 days before the date of your arrival
• Any bookings made less than 30 days before your arrival date need to be made in full at the time of booking
• Any cancellations made more than 30 days before the date of your arrival will lead to a forfeit of the deposit
• 0-30 days - a cancellation fee of 100%
